Support your local Labour Councillor [April 26th 2008]

We should spend a minute to support our Councillors and candidates for next weeks Local Elections.
Across the country Labour Councillors and candidates are up for election - they may be defending their record in charge, or exposing the inefficiencies of Tory or Lib Dem (or possibly ConDem) councils.

u-turn by Conservative Council
Families will now not be charged for events during a Town Festival event after pressure from Labour Councillors forced a Council U-Turn.
Conservative Councillors had previously proposed a charge for residents using rides on Families Day during the Town Festival.
Following a meeting of the Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council it was finally agreed that there would now be no charges for rides and activities .... more here

Letter to the Local Press
I am writing to show my support for the Labour candidates in Borehamwood, and across Hertsmere, at next week's Local Elections.
How people vote next week will determine whether or not Borehamwood continues to suffer at the hands of the Conservatives, who have run Hertsmere Borough Council for nine years, or whether the Labour Group can continue to fight for better services for Borehamwood residents.

Labour Councillors won the vote on a motion insisting that the County Council improves its performance on road and pavement repairs throughout the Borough.
