Making the Council Keep its Word [June 20th 2007]
Council Debate
Councillor Ann Harrison, Labour Cowley Hill Ward, proposed a motion at tonight's Council meeting to ask the controlling Conservative group to keep to its word. Opposition Liberal Democrat Councillor Miki Colne was invited onto a Steering Committee that would oversea the investment of funds provided by Arsenal Football Club. These extra funds were provided as part of a new 106 Agreement with the football club when they were granted permission to expand their facilities at their London Colney Training Ground. Councillor Miki Colne was offered a position on this steering committee due to her experience in complex planning issues, the offer bing confirmed by several e-mails sent to her by the Portfolio Holder, Conservative Councillor Hannah David.
The motion read:
That the Hertsmere Borough Council Executive be requested to reconsider the appointment of an opposition Councillor to the Partnership Steering Group, Councillor Miki Colne having already been agreed as a member of the Group by the previous Conservative Group Leader.
