Hiding the facts on Waste and Recycling [July 12th 2005]

Once again, the Tory group on Hertsmere council cannot seem to grasp the concept of open, honest debate.

A MORI study using the Hertsmere panel was conducted earlier this year focusing on Waste and Recycling. The point of these studies is to inform everyone on the effectiveness of the council's delivery of services.

At the Council meeting on the 15th June this year, Conservative Councillor Graham quoted figures from this unpublished report during a debate on recycling. On being challenged by the Labour Gro .... more here


Labour policy on the Venue [July 11th 2005]

It's about time that the Labour Group in Hertsmere dissociated itself from the current position over the waste ground next to the Venue.

Residents will no doubt remember that between 1995 and 1999, when the Labour Group was in power, we initiated the scheme to replace the old

Venue and run down swimming pool with a brand new Leisure Facility. The total cost of the project was to have been around £19 million. With the overwhelming support of the residents, the Borough Council approved the scheme.

Dear Editor, I read with interest a news article on page 14 of last weeks Borehamwood Times. It was from Three Valleys Water urging Hertsmere residents to cut down on water consumption. The reason this article amused me is that since February this year I have had various complaints from some residents about an overflow pipe which has been leaking badly.
